I am a PhD student in Gender Studies at the University of Sussex, you can find my Sussex profile here. The working title of my thesis is ‘The Place, Production, and Potential of the Queer Family‘.
In summary, my research aims to discuss and explore how lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans queer, and non-heterosexual parents who live in the UK relate to media representations of families like theirs. I’m asking what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s missing in the representations of LGBTQ+ parented families that appear across entertainment, news, and sub-cultural media.
I began my research in September 2012 and as of February 2016, I am in the process of finalising and submitting my thesis. You can find information on the media which project participants listed as important to them and their families on the ‘List of Media‘ page. I’ll be writing blog posts in the coming months summarising my key findings
